EMHE

What is EMHE you ask? Well that would be Extreme Makeover: Home Edition! Those of you in the area have probably hear that the ABC TV show is in town building a house for a deserving family. We were excited that it was going to be in The Lou, but had no idea it would be in our own front yard (almost literally). The house they are building is just a block and a half away!

This morning we saw them hammering these down our street:

This is going to be a crazy week I think. Kev and I have already decided that we are going to walk over and see what we can see. We'll post a photo of Ty soon!

Oh how exciting! They were in Kansas a few years ago. Not near my house, but that is so fun. It is neat to watch them do what they can do so fast.

Can't wait to see the photos to come.

on kmox they said it was a family that had moved in a year ago and that they had 3 kids (girls, i think). so do you know them? what's their hard luck story? they said on the radio that they usually tear the houses down because it's easier than trying to meet code restrictions in such a short period of time. gee, does shrewsbury have strict codes? i think your parents ran into some problems when they raised the roof. hopefully you can document the makeover from teardown to "move that bus"!

Your EMHA questions, answered: Comments edition

The family is a family of 5: mom, dad, little girl in 2nd grade at St. Mike's and twin boys. Both of the boys were born with (different) rare genetic conditions.

As for our city's codes... they are incredibly strict. I will have more on that in a later post.

Kev and I headed to the site to check out the action... I'll post photos soon.
