Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope your holidays were safe and full of frightful fun. I spent most of my day (at least while Maddy was napping) carving our pumpkins. I am pretty proud of my family pumpkin... but the polka-dot one is pretty cool too. See below for even more pumpkin fun!!!

But first, meet our CHICKEN!!! There is no sky falling, or running away from all things scary. Just an adorable almost 6month old. I mean really, what is cuter than our baby girl in a chicken suit. Fun, Fun!

We made the rounds with our little chicken and visited Granny and Poppy Mc-R, Grandma and Grandpa G and Aunt Kathy and Uncle Elliot. She was a trooper through the whole night. (She is not a night owl by any stretch of the imagination!)

Earlier in the day, before I carved the pumpkin as seen above, Maddy helped me decorate our Mr. Pumpkin Head. Arg! He's a pirate! Is this not the coolest?!?!
For more Mr. Pumpkin Head fun check out Becky and Scott's blog post.

And in case you were wondering Maddy's shirt says "Mummy's Girl." (How fitting!)

My First...

Trip to the PUMPKIN PATCH!

Momma and Poppa took me to a pumpkin patch yesterday! It was a grand old time. I have to admit it was a little frustrating. They wouldn't let me eat any of this yummy hay.

What an adorable scarecrow!!

I think even Poppa had a good time!

Congrats Jeanne and Nathan!

Jeanne and Nathan tied the knot this weekend... (sorry for the delay in posting, it has been a long week.) It was a beautiful day. And a great time was had by all!

I walked down the aisle with Jeanne's oldest brother, Matt. As you can see he is very, very tall... and even succeeded in making me feel short. That very rarely happens! (Keep in mind that I am also wearing 1 1/2 inch heals!)

The excitement for the day was that I felt like I was going to pass out during the ceremony. They only had kneelers and every time we knelt I feel like was going to pass out! Mary, the Old Cathedral's wedding coordinator, saved the day and got me a cold towel and a bottle of water. Thank you Mary!

Scott is back from Iraq...

And all we got was this photo of his condo's kitchen. (All be it a very nice kitchen indeed!)
Welcome back to the U.S. Scott. Can't wait to see you back on the main land sometime soon!

Slackers.

No love, huh? We used to get tons of complaints about a lack of posts. Now, having posted a ton in the last two weeks, we have no comments. We are not feeling the love. So, where our boys (and girls) at?

Do we have to have another post about Blog lurkers? I would hope not.

Books!

Momma and Maddy got cozy in bed today reading books.

Mmm... books!

Maddy's favorite toy

Last week Kev read in one of our baby's first year books that at 5+ months a child might start protesting if you take away a toy they are enjoying. His response, "what if the toy takes itself away?"

It is true, if Olive is in the room Madeline's eyes will be fixed upon her. And if kitty walks out of the room Madeline has indeed protested.

It has taken a while to get to this point (see photo below). Previously every time Olive would get close to Madeline, Maddy would shriek with excitement. This would send Oli running into the other room. (hence the protest...) Slowly Olive has learned that the shriek is not followed with any additional discomfort and is even letting Maddy "pet" her. Of course all of this is closely monitored by a cautious adult, but Olive has given us no reason to believe she can't be trusted.

Aren't our girls cute!

Our little Cards fan

The season may be over for the Cardinals, but Maddy is an optimistic fan. She is already looking forward to spring training '08. Maybe the hat will fit a little better by then too!

My First...

PAIR OF BLUE JEANS!

Maddy wore her first pair of blue jeans today. To any normal person this would not be a big deal. But I am no normal person. I live in my jeans. They are my go to item of clothing and I love them. So this outfit is what we refer to as the Momma uniform. Blue jeans (boot cut of course), a t-shirt and comfy pair of tennies (or socks that look like tennies in this case!).

Madeline is 5 months old!

Maddy turned 5 months old yesterday. We can hardly believe that she is both that young and that old all at the same time. It seems like only yesterday she was just a twinkle in our eyes, but on the other hand we can hardly remember life without her!

She is a joy to be around and aside from the fact that she doesn't want to nap in the afternoons is a happy baby all day long. Making the choice to stay home with her, although difficult, has really been the best decision for us. I can't imagine missing out on her laughs and smiles all day. The look of concentration she gets when playing with a toy just cracks me up. I guess at five months a string of plastic chains is like brain surgery. Enjoy the photos we have posted over the last few days. Isn't she cute?!?!

I'm how old? Man, I'm really getting up there in months!
On Sunday Madeline started sitting up mostly unassisted. She is still on the wobbly side, and we like to have the Boppy to prop her up, but she looks so big sitting up all by herself. Next thing we know she will be crawling... although I don't want to rush that one! (Kev on the other hand...)

Madeline has taken a keen interest in the camera over the last week or so. Mostly she just wants to see what it tastes like.

Stupid...

I was going to post my photos... and more of an update, but Blogger is being difficult so these will have to do for now.... I will update and change this post tomorrow with more photos. (If blogger will let me!) Stupid Blogger.

Alice and I totally dig our stroller rides. We get nice and comfy and take in the scenery. Alice gets mifted because all the neighbors call her a monkey. (She's a mole if you wanted to know.)
Granny stopped in this week and read me "Are You My Mother?" by P.D. Eastman.

I promptly told her that she wasn't my mother. And she explained that she was my mother's mother. Then I had to take a nap because my head hurt.

Can you say, "get me out of this ridiculous get up?"
Under all that pink and frill there is quite a cute little baby girl!
No offense to the grandparent that purchased this gem, but that flower has got to go.

WHAT?!?

"What do you mean you haven't posted any new photos of me in over a week? My fans are waiting! Step to it Momma." --Madeline
