Iditarod

I am glued to the Iditarod this year. In the past I have found it marginally exciting. They call it the last great race and I'd say I'd have to agree.

But this year, I can't get enough. Why? Because I know one of the racers. One of my brother's best friends in high school is racing as a rookie with a young team of dogs. I am amazed.

I first met Dave when he joined my brother's basement band, The Hitchhikers, in the early nineties. He was a quiet guy, but with a killer sense of humor. I never would have placed him on a iditarod dogsled team. Totally wild.

Check him out. His mom and dad are in Alaska blogging about his progress. It's pretty exciting.

Not to mention, today is his 27th birthday.

Dave always had a quiet sense of adventure... like that time I found him standing on our front lawn with his pants around his ankles, boxer shorts exposed, hollering at girls as they ran down the street....

Ahhh... the good old days. :)
